Tube End Expanding
End expanding can be achieved by two different end forming methods. Ram Forming Expansion or Segmented Style Expansion, and Harco offers both versions.
The first style simply forces a tapered, dedicated die into the tube end, and then retracts the die back off after achieving the desired expansion length. The expanding die is dedicated to the expansion outside diameter (ID) and length of the expansion required and is limited to only that specific tube ID.
The second style, segmented expansion, is achieved by placing the tube end over a series of segmented style finger expanding dies and hydraulically expanding the tube end. This version allows more flexibility in that you can expand a small amount of continue to increase the expansion of the fingers to expand even more within a specific range. The design of the dies dictate the range a tube can be expanded.
